Focus on relevance

Describe the person’s current role, scope of responsibility and experience connected to the business being presented. Prefer concrete work descriptions over broad labels such as visionary or world-leading. Confirm dates, organisation names and any credentials before publication. Do not imply that a past employer endorses the present venture simply because it appears in a biography.

Keep verification straightforward

Maintain supporting information for claims likely to matter in a review. Get approval from the person whose biography is used and agree a process for updates. Distinguish an adviser from an employee or executive and describe the actual relationship accurately. A strong team page can be concise while still making it clear who is responsible for delivery, who advises and who can answer questions about particular areas.

Put the guide to work

Ask each named person to confirm both their biography and the role label shown beside it. A correct career history can still create a misleading impression if the current relationship is described inaccurately. Review the page when responsibilities or advisory arrangements change.

Imagine this

Hypothetical example

A founder’s deck lists several advisers without explaining their involvement. The revised team page uses approved role descriptions and identifies the executives responsible for daily operations. Readers can understand the contribution of each person without assuming that every named adviser manages the company.

Make it practical.
